Vale do Lobo
Vila Sol Golf & Spa Resort is an excellent hotel with a great golfcourse. The narrow treelined
fairways remain a challenge everytime you play the course.
Now that Pestana are the new owners they have reinstated the initial two loops of nine
holes, Prime 1-9 and Challenge 10-18 as the the main 18 hole golf course.
The remaining Prestige 19-27 holes, are now the academy nine holes.
If you like to play at a reasonable pace you may want to avoid Prestige.
For many golfers Vila Sol is their favourite Algarve golfcourses.
The Pestana Group of hotels own 5 golf courses in the Algarve. It operates the recently acquired Vila Sol golfcourse as well as Gramacho, Vale da Pinta, Alto and Silves in the West of the Algarve.
Packages are available for 5 and 7 nights with 4 or 6 rounds of golf. In addition to the Dom Joao II

It is difficult to describe Palmares golfcourse unless you are one of the lucky ones that have played Kingsbarns golfcourse, close to the old course of St Andrews in Scotland. Our advice is to fit Palmares golfcourse into your golf itinerary if at all possible. The 3 loops of 9 holes are not quite finished but the 18 holes that are playable will take your breath away. Great views
whichever hole you play and the wind coming off the Altlantic coast will make even the shorter holes a real challenge. The course is in great condition.

Vila Gale Lagos Hotel
The San Lorenzo Golf Course was opened in 1988 and takes advantage of wonderful topography on the Quinta do Lago estate, winding its way gently over undulating pine woodland.
The 18 holes lie in the unspoilt Southeast corner of Quinta do Lago, bordering the Ria Formosa Estuary and salt water lagoons.
The San Lorenzo Golf Course is laid out in a figure of eight and at the heart lies the San Lorenzo Clubhouse with a golf pro shop; comfortable changing facilities; welcoming bar and restaurant.

Vila Gale Hotels own and manage many hotels in Portugal of which 9 are in the Algarve.
Regular visitors to the Algarve may well be familiar with the popular Marina and Ampalius hotels in Vilamoura. Both provide excellent standard of accommodation, are in the centre of Vilamoura and
provide free transfers to the nearby golf courses. As the rates are the same for both hotels it will be hard to choose. The Ampalius is located close to the beach and most rooms will get many hours of sunshine each day. Ideal for most months apart perhaps from the Summer months when it be wiser to choose for the cooler setting of the Marina Hotel.
4* Formosa Park
Although PlayBetterGolf can arrange for greenfees at San Lorenzo for non residents, if
you are planning to play it more than once during your Algarve golf break, it pays to consider
staying in the Formosa Park apartments. Set in a quiet area ( not within walking distance
of Almancil or Vilamoura ) the Formosa Park Apartments offer you a high standard
of accommodation.
The golf packages include nearby Pinheiros Altos and the hotel will provide
free shuttle services to both golf courses.
4* Baia Grande Hotel
Baia Grande Hotel is just outside Albufeira overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and offers it's guests truly great 4* service. Excellent buffet breakfast is served and do not forget to check out nearby Michelin* restaurant, Marinheiros.
Although the hotel offers a shuttle service to and from Albufeira it is recommended that you hire a car. The hotel does offer easy acces to courses in the west of the Algarve and
we would recommend you play Faldo and O'Connor jnr at the twilight rate.
4* Vale do Lobo
We really enjoyed our week in Portugal and the golf courses that we played.
Ocean Course - Nice course, some challenging holes and stunning views of the sea. However, I was expecting a more polished course for the green fee and I was disappointed with the practice facilities and felt some of the fairways were a little untidy. However, the greens were perfect and the round was very enjoyable.
Quinta South - Wow, what a course, challenging, stunning, in exceptional condition - a must for anyone visiting the area.
San Lorenzo - I didn't think it would get much better than Quinta, but San Lorenzo did. Great practice facilities, really liked the traditional feel of the club house, course was fantastic - hugely challenging, great views and in fantastic condition.
I'd also like to thank you for your help in arranging our golf. Compared to other internet sites that I talked to you were the most informative and provided me with the best rates. I'll definitely be using and recommending your services in the future.
