Although fairly far removed from the traditional Algarve, the purpose-built leisure resort of Vilamoura offers accommodation to suit all tastes -
luxury hotels, privately owned villas and apartments on the golf course
complexes, and a wide range of hotels and apartments near the marina. Vilamoura marina is the main centre of activity with a huge range of
restaurants, bars and shops. During the day, although it can get quite busy,
it's really a very peaceful area to stroll around. It gets more lively at night
during the summer months, with everyone coming to eat and try out
some of the bars, but is still a very relaxed resort.
Vilamoura golf has become world famous, and if you like golf, you will be
pleased to know that there are five courses within 10 minutes of the marina. Vilamoura has two beautiful beaches, Praia da Marina ('Vilamoura Beach'),
to the east of the marina and Praia da Falésia to the west.
Vilamoura is home to a Casino which offers beside the gaming rooms some excellent shows and dances.

Albufeira in the central Algarve region of Portugal, attracts thousands of visitors every year and it's easy to understand why! There is Albufeira old town with it's pretty cobbled streets lined with restaurants, bars, cafes and shops; the lively nightlife in São João; Albufeira marina with it's sugar candy coloured apartments and last but not least the lovely, sandy beaches and is central for all the tourist attractions, with the added bonus of a short transfer from Faro airport.
Albufeira old town has a relaxed atmosphere with a lovely central square decorated with trees and colourful shrubs surrounded by street cafés and restaurants for a quiet meal or a cool drink. The streets leading off the square
are a shoppers delight with clothes shops, leather goods gift shops, street stalls and of course, all the practical shops for daily necessities.
There are also many more restaurants and bars in between the shops so there is never a shortage of places to eat and drink!
The bars in the old town are still open late - most will be open until 4am
during the summer months but will close around 2am in the off peak months.
Warning: It is easy to see why some golfers turn up late the next day for
a round of golf!
Vila Galé Hotels

old fishing village rebuild into a unique hotel, 1 km from Tavira centre
and in the middle of Ria Formosa Natural Park.
With well over 600 Algarve hotels to choose from it is perhaps a little
ambitious to suggest a favourite five. However each of these hotels offer
something totally unique.
The most obvious is the Vila Joya Hotel. This small boutique hotel with its perfect beach location has just 22 suites, each different and luxurious. No need to decide where to eat as the hotel houses its own Michelin* restaurant.
If your budget does not quite stretch, you could opt for the splendid newly built Monte da Quinta Resort located in the far corner of Quinta do Lago.
Carvoeiro's Baia Cristal Hotel offers a beautiful coastal location
with a very affordable dinner bed and breakfast arrangement.
